LBCC offers health care services to those who do not have medical insurance

Many of us have not had the misfortune of having to deal with becoming ill and the fear of not being able to access medical care. The economic crisis faced by the state of California magnifies the stressful situation that many people are facing — the ability to access basic healthcare for themselves and their families.

Laguna Beach Community Clinic is here to offer services to those who do not have private medical insurance. The Clinic staff can assist with accessing governmental programs when appropriate and coordinate medical care. This can help those in need prevent a medical crisis and maintain their health.

The safety net of Laguna Beach Community Clinic is widening, covering some of those who thought going to LBCC for treatment and care was for "others." The Clinic will have in excess of 17,000 patient visits this year compared to 15,500 in 2006 and 15,750 in 2007.

Help us spread the word to those who are now in need of treatment and ongoing care. We also ask that you be part of the solution. Please send your donations to the Clinic to help us care for your friends and neighbors.

Here's how you can make a donation:

By Check: Make your check payable to Laguna Beach Community Clinic and mail it to 362 Third Street, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.  It must be postmarked before or on December 31, 2008.  

By Credit Card: Call before or by December 26, 2008 at 949-494-0761, ext. 141 or 134.

Stock Donations:  Donating appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year is a great way to make a donation at year-end to the LBCC. You get a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock, and you avoid capital gains. Always check with your financial adviser on the benefits of this kind of charitable gift for your particular income tax situation.

• A stock electronic transfer:  We recommend by or before December 22 to ensure a smooth process. To make a gift to the LBCC brokerage account, download our stock donation form and follow the instructions on the form.
